Dear Members,

From the picture below, how can I take off the CV plate mounted on the side of the IRS transmission? I searched on internet but couldn't find instructions or video. Also what would be the name of that CV plate so I can buy online for a new one?

Thank you.

Of course after I sent out the post, I found the video on youtube.

Thanks for where to buy the plate on eBay. I will also go ahead and buy the drive flange plug, may be new C clip and seal.

Do the new seal flush all the way in? is there any step I need to watch out for?

Judging by the broken bolts, I think you are referring to the output flange or CV flange (thus the “flange seal”)

You might want to try a local VW shop to see if they have a core transmission laying around. CV flanges are available new, but most of them are for converting to larger CVs.

Nothing special, just install the seal until it bottoms and lube the lip with a smear of grease and polish the CV flange with 400 W/D where the seal rides if there is a groove worn in.
