If purchasing from this guy do it in person. Definitely do not send him a deposit. At first talking with Johnny on the phone he was friendly to deal with. We discussed details about the car and the fact that the family was looking for a fast transaction I made an offer they agreed upon and then we had to try and negotiate a window in which I would have time to pick up the car. At this point a deposit was required to hold the car for final payment and pick up. Against my better judgement (as another individual was scheduled that weekend to come and pick up a car in which the remainder of the balance was to be used for the car Johnny was selling) I went ahead with the deposit, my fault and never again. The potential buyer of my car backed out last minute. At that moment I felt it necessary to notify Johnny that as much as I still wanted the car I knew that the family was in a hurry to move the car and it would probably be best for me to back off and allow them to look for another potential buyer at that point he said he would talk to the family and circle back to me. I then checked the ad that following Monday and Johnny decided to remove the Pending from the ad which I was ok with as long as they were planning on refunding my deposit. At this point Johnny got frustrated with me and explained that the deposit was non-refundable. At that point I explained to him that if they weren’t planning on refunding my money they shouldn’t assume it was ok to remove the Pending without first notifying me and that this was a breach of contract. Johnny got mad at me for calling him out on the breach of contract and from that point forward refused to communicate with me upon my every request. I truly would have figured out a way to complete the purchase of the car had I been dealing with a reasonable person. It’s hard to purchase from an individual that lets his feelings get in the way of handling good business. The car was approximately a 20 hour trip one way in which the seller is not communicating with me, no thanks. I’m not saying that I’m not partially to blame but Johnny stole my deposit regardless of how you look at it and is not a trustworthy person. |
