I know this is a long shot but I am on the hunt for my moms Bug. The car was built by her dad for her but after he passed away she couldn't take care of it so instead of watching it degrade she decided to sell it. She has told me it is one of the biggest things she regrets doing. My mom has done a lot for me and my family and I would love to repay her some way. Even knowing if its exists or not would be amazing.
The car is a 1969 Convertible.
It was sold around 1987 in Saint Paul, Minnesota USA
license plate on it at the time was RBN-354
If anyone knows of a way to find records of vin numbers or anything else useful tips or tricks on my hunt I would be grateful.

| I don't think it would be too difficult if you had the VIN. She doesn't have it recorded anywhere? |

| We did search through old documents but couldn't find it (we may have missed it). I did a post on reddit and some replies gave some ways we could potentially get it. So hopefully I can get a hold of it eventually but I don't have it currently. |

| I don't suppose she has the same insurance company, there might be an outside chance they would still have records. A longshot to be sure. |

| Not the same insurance company but still worth a try to call the old one. |

I don't think I've ever seen a convertible Baja before. That's an unusual feature that might help find it. Edit: never mind. I guess there's plenty on Google... seems strange to me. _________________ Making VW's and America great again. |

Many old bajas and buggies used convertible pans for their extra structural metal. ‘Verts have significantly more longitudinal support, since they don’t have arch support from metal roofs. The doors are also beefier and part of the chassis structure.

I thought the extra weight might be a negative and the lack of dust protection... But I can see that being a positive for the right situation. _________________ Making VW's and America great again. |
