Hey all,

Going through the heater cables and replacing them. The defroster vents (on top of the dash within the same piece - the round and oblong) I can feel hot air blowing through them but what are the long skinny vents closest to the front windows for? I would think defrost, as well, but I never feel anything coming out of them.

Also, when am I supposed to feel warm air coming out of the foot vents? I would think about 1/2 way down on the lever, right? My heat distribution cable is a little short so I'm hoping that once I get the new cables in, I'll be able to adjust everything so I can feel hot air coming from everywhere!

Thanks,
Mikey

The skinny ones at the outer edges are cold fresh air, move the blue lever down while in motion to activate them. They do sort of work as defoggers, but since it's cold air fighting with the warm stuff coming from the center vents it's debateable if they really improve things, YMMV.

The lever position for the foot vents depends on many factors, cable adjustment is a good place to start: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=646866&highlight=heat+cable+adjustment
