I was wondering what the top 5 countries are with a significant populaion of 181s ( Things ) would be.

I guessing these ( in no particlar order ):

Germany

United States

Mexico

Italy
Canada

Did you check the current VW Thing Registry? You'll need to do your own tabulation by country but this should be a good resource to satisfy your curiosity.
