Hello everyone. I’ve been reading, searching and getting lots of info from here the past couple of months and learning in general. Great forum with tons of info!

I have a question on the oil pressure switch, or the wiring to it to be more specific. The car is new to me and there’s no wire going to the switch. What part of the harness should I look for this wire? Where the wiring goes to the ignition system or the part of the harness going to the generator? I haven’t taken the time to dive into it much on this issue. It’s a ‘72 Super Beetle. Thanks for any info.

Welcome!

Look for a green/blue wire in the same small harness that goes across the engine to the ignition coil.

Thanks. I suspected that was where it is supposed to be but I haven’t seen it. I’ll do some digging into that part of the harness tomorrow afternoon. Appreciate the reply.

A lot of times the wire breaks a few inches into the sheathing. Just cut it back a bit and you'll find it.

I trimmed back about a 1/2” this evening and still didn’t see it. Decided to stop and ask here before I kept hacking into the wrong lead. I’ll dig farther in tomorrow.

Thanks guys!

The wire harness comes from the upper left of the engine compartment. It includes the coil 12v wire along with the alternator wires.

Mine broke years ago and I spliced in the blue wire.

After trimming back a bit of sheathing on the coil/ignition run looking for a broken wire I was finally able to see a good color on the wires. When I could tell I had the green/blue or blue/green wire I noticed it was plugged onto the coil. Problem solved. Now on to the blinkers and stop lights! This thing has been a headache with wiring problems/surprises. The harness hasn’t really been butchered but lots of little surprises like wires unplugged and plugged into places they shouldn’t be. Being patient and trying to get everything back to where it should be. Little closer every day.
