A big attaboy to Scott at Mansispeed for sending out replacement O-rings for their oil pump at no charge, and like happened yesterday.
I've been on a campaign to manage a number of pesky oil leaks that went way beyond "what's a couple drops in the driveway".
One of the culprits was the Mansispeed oil pump cover. I talked to Scott at Mansispeed about possible causes. As part of that discussion, he sent three replacement O-rings. Good on ya!
The probable cause was an iffy installation; particularly not backing off the two block bolts near the pump. The recommendation is to back them off before putting in the pump; they act almost as pinch bolts. Probably the O-rings (which aren't very thick) were somehow boogered just enough to cause a leak. New O-rings, pump put in right, and life is good.
BTW Mansispeed is in the Baltimore area or on Eastern time, not West Coast or Rockies like much of the Westy supply system. _________________ Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't change. |

Don't know anything about your particular pump, but Teflon pipe dope does an excellent job of helping o-rings slide into place without being damaged.
