Thought I would share. I add this bulb to all my old cars. There are variations out there but these seem to be the best.

Thank you, they look great but seem to only be available in 12v. Can you folks recommend a really good LED replacement for the incandescent bulbs for my '63
6 volt system? I really need much brighter turn signals and brake lights driving around Tucson on these cloudless summer days. Ron

I used these and the company were very helpful. I see they do international delivery and have an outlet in canada...
if I remember correctly they say to use red leds for rear lights as they show up better than white

When I used LED bulbs for my taillights it seemed to cause other weird issues. I can't remember what it was but something like making my other lights flicker. I went back to stock bulbs and there were no issues. But to make the stock bulbs work better I put a layer of chrome tape on the mounting plates. It works almost as good as the LED's imo.

Reviving this thread to ask: do these require modification, or can they simply be plugged into a 12V system?

Thanks,

Chris

Plug and play. Just leave the front turn signals to keep a load on the lighting system.
If you do the fronts and rears and not add a relay. They will be fast blinkers.

THESE are the best LED direct swap non-fancy affordable bulbs I have found. They were easy to find recently...but not as easy today looks like.

If I was shopping I'd google a retailer that has these and don't bother with anything else. I have tried a hundred different LED models, shapes, sizes etc..
So far these are the winners.

Here is the direct link to the bulbs.

Could you do a tail/brake comparison test with a friend? The biggest problem I've seen with LED 1157 type replacements is that most don't have enough brightness change between tail and brake function, making the brake light less noticeable.

They are a little pricey but if they work well they may be worth it. Another old trick, we didn't do it with LED bulbs back in the day, was to swap the leads between the turn signals and brake lights (if using all red lenses). That way you can put a bright bulb up top and have a very obvious brake light "pop."
