I'm considering a vehicle from Brazil, in particular I'm discussing with Cadu from KombiforYou. Do any of you have any experience working with these guys? Just doing my due diligence, make sure they're legit, and I'm not going to get hosed in a scam. Thanks for any insight. |

You are an engineer and should know better. Buy in the US where you have some protection and can look, if you chose to at the vehicle BEFORE you buy. |

I don't have any personal experience but I would be VERY concerned about the quality of what I was getting.
1. Shiny paint over a poorly restored Bus with possible rust and frame issues.
2. Poor mechanicals that need work, maybe with Brazilian-only parts that might not be readily available in the USA.
This is based on reports from others who bought them or saw Brazilian Buses in person. _________________ How to Post Photos

Thanks for the feedback, though nobody's answered my question.
Everything's a risk, I assume the worst in these transactions, and place risk versus reward for a guide. For example, if there are enough photos of the vehicle, I can eliminate the biggest risks (outside of an outright scam), so I assume the things I can't see might be faulty. Many of the Brazil car ads are supplying build photos, where you can differentiate cut/weld replacements versus Bondo shoddy work. Some of the Brazil stuff is shoddy, much of it however is pretty good, based on photos anyway.
So I'm saying, if the price is right, and you get what's in the photos, if you've done enough filtering you should be pretty ok. Unless it's an outright scammer, and you don't get anything, which is why I posted.... |

Someone called you out as an engineer but I didn't see where they got that. Definitely an engineers way of thinking. To think cut and weld means no bondo is funny. Sounds like you have made your decision, do follow up and tell us how it went. Most people are gung-ho and then never come back and tell us how great their brazillian bus is. Like men getting assaulted or whatever, many won't speak up for shame that they were stupidly swindled it seems. |

Hey, I'm just asking questions. People buy and sell between countries all the time. I'm just exploring options. |

By the way, what has my profession got anything to do with this? Seems to me people need to find something in any conversation online to argue over. "Called you out as an engineer" ? Like it's some illegal or immoral profession |

All of those sort of things are a reflection of their own personal issues, it's best to ignore it.
If you have a particular vehicle in mind and have detailed pics, you can also start a thread in the Split Bus Forum and ask for a review of the pics for any issues people see.
I'm often surprised at what different people will catch in even a limited # of photos of Buses.
I've seen a few Brazilian / S. American Buses where people noticed the frame was crooked in pics... on "restored" Buses.
I've also seen some in person that looked really nice but they were usually unrestored ones. _________________ How to Post Photos
