Has anyone considered converting a power steering Vanagon to an electric pump? I'm working on one with rusted lines and faced with spending money anyway. I know there are electric columns, but I'm mostly just interested in the pump, putting under the driver's seat, or perhaps by the spare tire, with reservoir higher for access? Subies and Minis seem to use these, perhaps others. _________________ Al Brase

Regarding usage in older Minis, I’ve heard it’s a high failure part.
Any chance you could just go manual, with a manual rack?. _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

| Years ago the Toyota MR2 electro hydraulic system was a popular option for early ev's and conversions. It's a simple system to adapt compared to newer options. If you google it you'll find schematics etc. but I think people are using setups from newer cars these days. |
