Since I don't have every Water-cooled VW at my disposal, I was hoping some of you might have Steering shaft lengths scribbled down somewhere! Im looking for total length of every Water-Cooled VW steering shaft and/or intermediate steering shaft length.
I am trying to compile a list!
Any and all help is greatly appreciated! As far as I have read, the Bentley manuals do not mention this measurement. Also, what type of joint is at the top of each car's steering shaft. Is it a rag-joint, U-joint, or something proprietary?
Many thanks once again _________________ 1993 VW Corrado 1.8 BT

The joints are universals only. While there are differences in lengths depending on chassis generation, the steering column/shaft lengths are all the same for a given generation. The only differences in lengths are the connecting shafts (dog bones in some circles) & this is determined by whether or not the car had power steering.
For instance…
