Hi all,
I’m trying to figure out the colour of this beetle, I believe it’s Gulf Blue. It’s original paint and never been resprayed. It was in dry storage from 1976 until 2020.
I’m trying to figure out (decode) the ‘Colour’ sticker in the spare wheel well. You can work out the ‘G’ then maybe a ‘U’ or an ‘O’? It’s the ‘UL’ at the end which is throwing me off.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

Thank you 👍🏽
I wasn’t aware that the translation for Gulf in German would be Golf. |

Yeah, Gulf Blue for sure. That is the only stock color even close.
I had a 61 Gulf Blue once. But no sunroof, it was only non-ragtop Bug I ever owned. Your paint code sticker at least has a couple of legible letters on it. Mine was much worse. _________________ Andy T.

Hence the European name for the USA "Rabbit" model. Scirocco, Jetta, Passat are all wind names. |

That original paint is crying out for a good session of hand waxing to regain some of its saturation and gloss! |

I agree on the color, but that car has been at least partially painted. The rear apron and decklid at a minimum. I also would give the car a good buff then wax first. _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org
