OK, here is the symptom list and patient:
-1991 VW Doka, imported from Sweden (via Belgium...). Of note, it has daytime lights (e.g. the headlights are on during the day).

- When the car is on, the bulbs for the dashboard (e.g. are on dimly).
- I can see voltage at the illumination wire for the radio (about 4v)
- When I turn on the lights, the dash lights go to full brightness, and I get about 12V a the radio illumination wire

So my assumption here is this is a bug, not a feature, correct? I'm thinking it's either a problem with the lightswitch itself, or perhaps a grounding issue in the dashboard. Curious if anyone else has seen this so I can narrow down problem solving it before looking more. Kind of a minor issue, and was going to take care of it while doing some other wiring stuff.

Thanks!
