WOW this again!!

I do think rear disk are a need not a want. Drive up the pass to go skiing alone , drums ok. Pick up 4-5 friends and there gear for the ride down the pass and your 2k heavier, drums not so good.

As to the better kit? I would say one that matches your fronts. ( do them first) 2 piston a plus. I think you need at least a 300mm rotor in front. I like the 290 eurovan in rear.

As far as ebrake. New cables are a must. And I really think the back end of the rod should have a support so there is no sag when not under tension. Or elictric ebrake.



Mine runs Lexus’s ls400 fronts and 06 jetta in the rear. I can lock up all 4 if needed.

I presently have SA rear drums and my own 303mm front disc set up. 16" wheels.
No doubt about it, discs are a breeze to maintain, and I'm entertaining the thought of a kit, or my own set up of discs for the rear.

Years back, the word was the rear disc kits parking brake would not hold a heavy van, the kits used a rear car caliper, I believe an Audi from my years ago was the choice.

The Eurovan rear caliper is using a 38mm piston, and the reports are it is working out well on the Vanagon.

Does anyone have info on piston sizes that were not up to the task?
Eurovan carriers can be difficult to find, and I'm considering looking into rear vented discs as well. Possibility of SLine rear calipers.
I know this topic was about kits, but there are others that have made their own "kits" that have intelligently combined parts.

l thought l recognized it.
l've been collecting 19mm front sway bars.
l plan on using stock end links, as they are a whole lot easier to come by.
