Hello everyone!
Few months ago I got a '72 1302 as a project car (early MacPherson front suspension). It needs serious body work and the front right inner fender is rotten badly, I'm thinking of replacing it entirely along with front apron.
I will need to remove the upper body shell for heater tube replacement and repaint anyway, but would you suggest replacing the front quarters before or after it's unmounted? I want to minimize any body distortions.
Thanks! |

Might as well lift the body off first.
Lift it high enough, so you can roll the chassis/engine from under the body for welding.
Post some pictures, so we can see the damage. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I guess that postpones this operation a bit.
Will be back at the garage this weekend, will take some pics. Back of the panel is almost completely rusted out, front bumper mount is poorly repaired and IIRC starting to rust too. Near the bottom of the wheel arch I think it has some badly welded panels under the undercoating (or was it the left fender? Will see.). |
