Does this resemble anything that came with a VW?

This little pouch has been a part of my onboard roadside kit for about 30 years. I don't know where it came from but it always seemed to fit the part. Does it look like some VW accessory to you?

Never seen anything like that in a VW tool kit or otherwise.

Does it have a slit in the tall section? You know, like those old dash trash bags, folks used to hang off the dash knobs in big American iron.

I have an identical one since the mid-'70s. Drug store auto dept/Pep Boys generic trash bag. I hung it on the gas door/flap knob of the Fastback.
