|
|
So the fuel flap cable on my 74 Ghia was getting very hard to pull... and snapped.
Stupidly, yes I know, I cut the cable housing to remove the assembly... thinking it didn't matter because I was going to replace it with a new one. Well, KGPR does not currently have them, and they have been on backorder for a while.
I bought a used one on Ebay. I paid a lot of money, and what I got was junk...cable housing totally frayed, rubber seal was split, missing cover on latch end. I'm returning it.
Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these? I'm going to need a new cable and housing. The cable and ends seem similar to a motorcycle cable. (I have an old British bike).
I've read posts about sticking a magnet on the door to keep it shut, but I don't know how that would work since the door is pot metal. I always thought it was cool that it opened from the inside, so I'd like to keep it that way.
Thanks. |

I would glue a rare earth magnet to the lid and opening as a temporary fix.

AirHead Parts sells the part.
Maybe check with a trusted place like House of Ghia. _________________ Jason Hamilton

AirHead Parts (KGPR) has been out of stock for a while. I'm on the waiting list.
I don't see it on House of Ghia's website, but will give them a call.
There's a person selling one on the Samba, but they don't have great reviews.
If all else fails. I'll try the magnet.
Thank you. |
