It could be an Australian thing but growing up I never saw a rear number plate on a Beetle that wasn't fitted to the decklid attached at the corners, ie curved not using a mount.
Which do you prefer? _________________ Member # 145244 |

Personally, if there are no holes previously in the decklid, then I wouldnt have the heart to drill them. But, thats just me. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

bend the plate and use 'sticky pads' - no holes required

I'd be looking to see what the regulations are concerning visibility for the local/state/province motor vehicle requirements. Around here you can get grief for having a bent plate, basic excuse to pull you over. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

I bought this bracket for my zwitter, so that I wouldn't have to drill extra holes in the deck lid. It works, but I spent a lot of time getting it to fit well.

I too dislike drilling holes in any car so I sure can see your point of view. _________________ Member # 145244 |

Good thinking.

It is pretty ordinary in my book Finster. _________________ Member # 145244 |

Sure do understand your thinking there Seth.
Interesting that they would have the same bracket 50 through 57 when the Pope's Nose finished in 52. Or I could be on the wrong tram.
The fight I had with getting aftermarket parts to fit still wakes me up at night. _________________ Member # 145244 |

I run the bracket that gets sandwiched between the deck lid and licenses light housing - much cleaner in my opinion. _________________ My Beetles :
