Looking to understand how the foot well footrest plate is anchored to the body.
The PO slapped plate over rust on the floor and wheel wells on both sides. Therefore, I cant tell how the foot rest plate was secured to the body, other than the one hook shown in the attached picture.
The way it sits now, the hook does not allow the plate to slide down but the plate is loose. Was there a second and or third point of attachment anywhere to keep the plate secure?
Thanks, JimK

There is typically one screw at the bottom lip of the footrest into the floor.
VW used scraps of interior material at the top tab and under the bottom to prevent rust chafing and rattles, and is usually missing. If you drill into the floor account for this displacement. _________________ Current Fleet:

Thanks Phil.
I think I'll put some plastic edging material on the bottom lip and install a fastener at both bottom corners. That should ensure it does not rattle.

Foam sticky tape works well for padding.
Or you can leave it off and have a handy quick stash hideaway when the need arises... _________________ Current Fleet:
