I gave the fastback to my youngest son when he got his license 8 years ago. He said it does not fit in his life right now, so I said give it back you can have it back later in life . The car has no cancer and has not been in an accident. I will have fun with it and work out some issues it has .

Sweet car!
Good on you for hanging on to it and giving it some love.
Get it dialed in so when his life has room again it’s ready to go.
Nice to see someone taking care of these things. _________________ Bus Motor Build

Very original-looking motor! Original sheathing on crossover gas line, original paint on the HE insulators.
What's the odd screw-looking thing in place of the test port plug/screw between the 3/4 injectors? |

The screw is just to plug hole when I was cleaning up the motor. The story on the motor is it came from a tech school and was used to train mechanics back in the 70’s on fuel injection for vw’s. It was never installed in a car. I got the board with all the pieces to make it run

Wow, more photos and details, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This exactly the kind of breadboard layout I wanted to create as a troubleshooting tool, some day when I had the time.
That, along with the Bosch/VW testers, would let me check out parts with ease!
The gauge labelled "OIL PRESSURE" was probably intended for "FUEL PRESSURE."
Preserve everything!!!!!!! |

My plan at this time is to take off the f/i system and go with carbs and sell all the f/i stuff. |

I know you probably have a good engine there, but the story, board, and engine are a really neat set to have. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

If someone wants to step up to the plate and buy all of it, I will sell it. They will have to really want it and be ready to pay up. |

But it's an A/B system, and I have a C/D system on my '71!
It's interesting, and I can't quite tell if it was just a parts demo, or if it was actually set up to connection to an engine on a bench.
Give that shop teacher a medal!
Interesting it has a voltage regulator on it. That suggests a bench engine, which would have a generator but no regulator (being on the chassis). I could see it being mounted on a stand on a pair of rollers.
Paired with that cutaway Type 3 engine, that would be a fantastic teaching aid set!
...converted to FI, of course! |

There was a rolling engine stand that the control board and engine was mounted on. The instructor would disable the engine and mechanic would diagnose and fix. |

Not to hijack this thread completely, but I need my own cutaway engine for my office coffee table. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Nope, the MPS is labelled for a '70. Presumably the ECU is also for that year. The rest should work for any year. |

I'm interested in the board and the FI system on the engine. Shoot me a PM when you are ready to sell. _________________ '64 1500 S
