in our new to us 1992 California westy, the rear seat is VERY hard to move forward or backward. I've used lithium and graphite lubricant in the rails in the floor, I can easily move the lever to release the seat, but it is so, so very hard to slide back and forth it is almost impossible. I at least need very grippy shoes to push it back or forward inch by agonizing inch. surely there is a way to enable it to move easier. it is almost impossible, even for my much stronger son to move. |

You can remove the seat by unbuckling the back “seat belts” and sliding the whole seat forward. Inspect the rails that the seat slides in. I believe it originally came with plastic strips glued on to sides and top. I replaced mine with 3/16” plastic from Tap Plastics. It’s too thick with the tape. Maybe someone did that on your van. Lmk if you find a better material. |

thank you for the answers. I've been busy, but wanted to report that cleaning, lubricating and use helped. also, the cable that raises the pin that locks the seat was not moving very freely. so that got several shots of lithium. also making sure the cable was moving in the housing, which is not unlike adjusting brake cable on a bike. so I think the locking pin was not quite lifting out of the locked position. |
