Always a great show!
$135 to set up early is highway robbery - and maybe that's by design - but that's the Lions club and not the VW club's fault.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this season!

well most people who set up early take up multiple spots and get prime spots in the first row, and camping with electricity, and it saves them all the time in the morning setting up their spot so it's worth it to them to pay the extra $40-50 dollars
the former promoter used to let a few sponsors set up early for an additional cost and it mushroomed after that so if we are going to offer it they must pay for the special service ,it's not the lions club they just handle the camping side of it

Totally a fair answer... Year before last, whoever had been collecting camping money had "blamed" the Lions club - we only knew what we were told.

Still, Terryville is one of the BEST shows in the north east - Litchfield was the first VW show I ever went to back in like 2004(ish?) and I'll be there no matter what it costs. The ferry ride up, the cruise up Rt 8, the size of the show and swap, the cars, and the camping are all irreplaceable in the hobby up here.
Can't wait!

Hey Paul,

I'm thinking about heading down as well and will try and do the show in Oxford, CT the day before. Let me know if you go. Would also like to know hotel recommendations.

Never been one in the past, most are camping. There is this one right down the street or some further away (Terryville is not a motel type town)

we do not have a host hotel most people camp the night before

there is the plymouth motor lodge right down the road but i would guess it is in the 2 star variety of accomodations
the closest name brand chains would be either in bristol or waterbury ct about 20 minutes away

Hey AppleGreen, did you find your Type 4 parts? There was a vendor along the left fence by the spectator entry gate that had Type 4 heads and P/C, though they were used and I did not pay attention to them. I made a few rounds in the parts swap area but did not see you.

Here are a few shots from some of the line-ups. Turquoise sunroof cover on the 3rd Beetle! Cool

There were a lot of dune buggies, I'd say ~ 20! And a 1974 VW Dasher, its first year. Surprised

Thanks to the CVA event staff for making another successful and very enjoyable show.

Fantastic show, worth the 650km (400 mile) drive Smile , (1300 km roundtrip).

I spent a good part of the day walking around talking to various owners, and taking lots of pictures. I didn't even get a chance to walk over to the watercooled cars, but there were plenty of nice looking cars, I'm someone else snapped lots of pics.

Here's a link to my facebook album with all the pics I took at the show:

hopkin, was this the first time you attended this show? And among the longer drives in your Beetle? I remember seeing it from a distance, in the row close to the ice cream trailer; but did not walk past it. Your photos turned out good, though since I'm not on FB the page locked on me before I could scroll all the way down. What route did you drive from Ottawa?

In the early days of theSamba- in the 2000's- there used to be a Samba group shot calling for attendees near the DJ music stand. Was to put faces to names. I think nowadays such a photo would have dozens of members.

I crossed at Ogdensburg and came down through the Adirondacks, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, to I87 and down through Albany.
Left from the show at 4 and got home around 1:AM, long but uneventful and pleasant drive home.

Here are a few pics of my trip. I met the fellow (original owner) with the orange '73 bus in Lake Placid on my way through and ended up talking for 45 minutes or so, love the VW community!

Yes it was my first time at the show.

I didn't buy any type 4 engine parts. I did see the ones you mention,it wasn't what I was looking for. Maybe Dave, from Bugcity or someone else bought the parts. I did see you, but you were busy having a conversation with someone, and I didn't want to interrupt. Sorry. Next vw show, I will make it happen. I remember talking to you a few years ago, at the same show, about 73 sport bug wheels/ 914 wheels offset, someone was selling.
I saw the 2 door, yellow 74 Dasher ,first time seeing one in person. Cool
