What are the correct bumpers for a December of 1957 Ghia? The birth certificate does not state that it came with crash protection bumpers and it was delivered to Italy. There are no holes with captive nuts in the rear apron. The apron appears to be original. The rear sheet metal / latch panel was cut out long ago by a previous owner so there are no signs of the supports. It did come with sealed beam headlamps, larger brake light reflectors and red lenses like it was an export car. It has the raised puck on the hood emblem, ribbed dash sides and a tall battery hold down tab. The Progressive Changes sticky states '58-'59 Model Years have "bumper overrider tubes". I looked on the lowlight registry and there are several cars with Euro bumpers built in Nov / Dec of 1957. I found a Code M952 "bumpers with guards". What bumper does this code refer to? What do you guys think? Time to start looking for Euro bumper gaurds or have it set up for over rider bumpers?

U.S. spec bumpers came in Jan. 58 according to the 56-59 differences thread-
'1764743 (03 jan 5 (body 27435) Introduction of the American style bumpers (with overrides)'
Looking at your VIN it would have been one of the first with the new bumpers if it were a U.S. delivered car! Being an Italian delivery I would think it should have Euro guards.
