|

this Jetta has been all over Los Angeles to top shops trying to find out why scanners cannot retrieve codes from the car. It won't pass emissions because the testers cannot connect to the car. The scanners light up, but after a long time, scanner say's it can't connect. HELP! _________________ 82 Diesel Westy, Turbo Charged, ground up restoration. |

Does this car have an aftermarket radio installed? _________________ ~Kamz

It did have a Pioneer head unit for years. The Yellow and red "K" wire has been cut, but still wont read. We are using a top of the line Snap-on Code reader and a lap top with the same results. _________________ 82 Diesel Westy, Turbo Charged, ground up restoration. |

If the car runs and drives fine, the ECU itself is probably fine. Maybe you have to inspect and test the wiring & connectors from the OBD connector to the ECU. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle |

The K-line should be gray/white and cut (and taped) at the radio-end of the harness.
If the K-line has indeed been cut, then apparently other modules in the car can be causing the issue, including the instrument cluster.

I am looking under the dash for the "pig tail" where all the "K" wires meet. Can anyone tell me where to look for this. There are several videos on line, but they are from an Audi or a VR6 Golf. They seem completely different under the dash. Or, can anyone point me to a shop in the Los Angeles area who has actually done this before? _________________ 82 Diesel Westy, Turbo Charged, ground up restoration. |
