I have a March 55 bug that has some significant damage on the driver side door. I have seen a pair of doors off of a 62 near me for sale at a reasonable price and was wondering whether the outer door skin shape was compatible between the '62 and the '55. I know the door handle is different as there are two mount points on the '62 but other than the handle difference I thought I read somewhere on here that the door skins are essentially the same up to '65 when they enlarged the windows.
Does anyone here know whether the outer skin is compatible between the two?
Thanks in advance. |

you should be ok with the outer skins off a 62 - or any 'small window' beetle. as you are already aware, there are differences with the post 'ice pick' style handle mounts. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Thanks for the reply.
Other than the second hole for the two-point handle attachment, what other differences between the handle mount is there? Is the square hole for the handle a different size? |
