Im assuming this clip goes where the brake Return spring is. Does it go to the left or right of that spring hook and what orientation? Found it under the pedals.

Thanks, so the flat edge sits over the top of the Return spring. Where can one find these odd clips? Does this clip come off when changing a master cylinder? Or did this just pop off on its own?

Yes. It is to retain the pushrod. The spring stays in its groove without any additional ‘help’.
