|
|
Hi guys
I have a 1969 RHD 411 and would like to get the heaters working again.
I would like to replace the cables and get that working first.
I looked in the parts book that I have and the cables appear to be 411 specific:
411 711 707 (A)
Has anybody found a common VW cable that will also work?
I have attached a few photos for reference.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Greg

The front and rear termnials are similar to those used in Bugs 65- just different lengths of the cable.
Correct cables are available in Sweden but unfortunately shipping them to your end of the world will cost a fortune.

Its easier to make some.
Remove your cables and check the length. Get some single strand steel wire of the same diameter.
Cut off the lever end and mount it in a vise. Get a small bit the same diameter as the wire. Drill out what is left of the wire end. Feed the end of the new wire into the hole and either stake it with a blunt punch or clamp it in a vise to stake it down.
You can do the same on the heater box end. Ray |

Thanks for your help guys.
I just realised that there is a single lever in the car next to the seat and not 2 as is the case with Type 1's!
Now the cable diagrams make more sense.
Cheers

Hi guys,
Just a quick update as I finally got arround to installing the new heater cables.
Everything is not done and I have a quick question.
There appears to be a n electrical spade (male) connector that is activated when the heater level is lifted up.
Please see the image.
I'm guessing that this is somehow connected to the fan that is located in the rear engine area?
If so, does anybody have a simple wiring diagram as the car doesn't currently have a fan and I would like to install one.
Cheers

I will get you the diagram in the am. You also have to have the vertical chimneys that feed each heat exchanger. Your sheet metal needs to have the oval holes for them as well. You can easily cut those oval holes in your sheet metal if they are not punched out. If memory serves, your sheet metal should have the indentations even if they are not punched.
I will post the parts diagrams as well.
