Is anyone using a tire pressure monitoring system? Is there one that is best for Vanagon? Recommend? _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

These are a great idea, but I've seen people try the various cheaper systems and after a seemingly short period of time they become problematic, the batteries die and the system is no longer functional. Would also love to hear of someone having success, though. _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1993 Toyota LandCruiser, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |

I’ve been using this one.
Can’t tell you how long this $29 unit will last but it works good for now.
The pressure-cap sensor housings are aluminum. _________________

That was my experience with a gifted system from a friend for our Vanagon.
Battery went out in one of the Sensors, screaming warning went off, scared me while driving…
I pulled over, checked the pressure in the listed tire- it was fine.
Replaced the battery in that sensor. A few weeks later it acted up again.
I bought another of the same system, as SODO noted, low price, so I’d have some spare sensors.
Installed new sensor, tire warning went off again, same location, a month or two later- swapped main units thinking it was faulty- tire warning a few weeks later.
I removed all 4 sensors and didn’t look back..!! _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....
