I've been looking at pictures of VW Brasilia and I wonder if anyone knows how the shape of ons of those suits the 412? I like the look of the integrated white indicator light, think the front of my 412 would look smoother without indicator lights on the fenders.

It should look nice!
It is hard to tell but the front of the Brasilia looks to have a sharper rake.
The paint on that car looks very nice!

Yes that bumber looks great! The maximum width of the 412 body is about 3" more then the Brasilia but that does not tell how big the difference is at the front.

That would be rad! But where do you find Brasilia bumpers? _________________ '58 Euro Spec Beetle

Why would I be all over this? Asking for a friend....
It looks interesting, but given the amount of fabrication necessary....is there some performance increase having integrated/flush turn signals will give?
By the numbers (as Lars mentioned...about 7 years ago)....the brazilia max width is listed at 63.2" and the 412 max width is listed as 64.4". While not signifcantly wider, the Brazilia is based on the type 3. Its not likely the bumper brackets are anything like type 4.
That and the shape is a pike nose and not a curve like the 411/412.
Add to that, if what you really want is to move the turn signals from the fenders to the bumper, I can already do that on a 411/412 without buying new bumper that does not yet bolt up.
The bigger problem will be welding up the existing turn signal holes in the front fenders. The 411/412 fenders and front end are notoriously thin....typically about 0.032" thick. Its very hard to weld metal unless you are probably using TIG.
A lot of work for something I do not really need....that does what?
On other notes....you seem to have some kind of chippy-thingy stuck on your shoulder. You should have that looked at! You might have attitude poisoning!
I mean...like....this thread is roughly 8 years old. You have also recently been bitching about how over 20 years...this forum has not found the answers that you require for the things you want to know.
Maybe in that range of time you could have done like many of us have and bought items or made items and done the R&D and testing....and figured out solutions for the things we actually NEED....like put some of your own effort in maybe.

That's hilarious! Looks nice....but
Got it fixed yet?.....bumper held on with Jack's? What's wrong? Mounts not the same? Kind of like I noted.
Wow! Turn signals in bumper....car should be twice as fast from lack of turn signal on the fender drag.....oh....but you still have those????....what's wrong....welding them up is too difficult for you?
The contour following is a little poor....but OK.
The only usefulness I see of going after this bumper is if you are missing a bumper and you can't find one. Outside of that....what IS the important point.
Why is your ass on fire as a MUST HAVE for this bumper? What makes it important enough that not having one.....puts someone behind the world?
How is not wanting/needing this bumper or not wanting or needing BMW springs.....making this forum weak?
Oh....and if it's such a weak forum and 20 years behind.....what the fuck is your lame ass doing hanging around here for.....posting pictures of parts that need jack stands to "act" like they are installed.?
If the reading material is too long for you....either skip it.....and walk on by....or maybe take a reading comprehension class so it won't be so slow.
You seem to hold your abilities and intellect far above this forum......so why are you here?
Probably because if you COULD figure it all out by yourself......you would have.....and we would not have to subject ourselves to your whining.
Let me give you an example......here is you....joined the STF in 2004.....and qll you have to show for it is a PIDDLY WEAK.....554 posts?????? Looks like you ain't been getting much done at all!
And here is YOU....the high speed/low-drag.....all knowing superior 412 owner ....STILL coming here to this supposedly SLOW weak-ass forum.....and you are here bitching that in 20 years THIS FORUM has not PROVIDED you ........the fast, all knowing.....smart one! .....with the be all and end all holy grail answer you require (and we all seem too stupid to care about)....as to how far a BMW E30 Spring....will drop the front end of your 412.
And yet.....in 20 years.....YOU.... could not figure that out for yourself??????? Really????
How lame is that!
I better stop now. More than a couple paragraphs and your "hooked on phonics" starts to fail you.....so you seem to say.

Hey settle down guys! Actually I think it looks pretty good, the center more pointed area looks perhaps better than the original. The side wrapping is more of an issue if anything. I've often looked at pictures of 70s and 80s BMW bumpers and wondered. They have a very similar design theme. _________________ '74 412 wagon

I am doing fine!
If you read the last few posts...this has nothing to do with whether the bumper looks good or is useful!
I think the bumper looks cool! That being said...unless there is some need for it like when we finally run out of bumpers for 411 and 412 (which is not far off)...then sure!....I would be looking at one.
My problem...if you have not caught the gist of Timmy's posts.... is the dick attitude from the this guy. For what reason?...I have no idea.
I post as many solutions as I can as time and $ permit. Outside of posting a few shiney trinkets....I have not seen this guy putting much effort into anything. He just spends his time bitching that....we...this entire forum...have not answered his exact questions succinctly and quickly over the past 10 years.
You should take a quick look at his last few questions/posts.
My point is that....if we are not gettinmg it done for him....perhaps he should do his own R&D and answer some of his own questions!
The only reason I continue to help when he asks...is that what I do post might help someone else.
I have been working on and driving 411 and 412 since 1978. Through the vast majority of time....there was no information...no books....no parts....no nothing. I do not wish that on anyone.
I started posting large volumes of data, details, photos etc.....to help people to get these cars to survive.
