Hi guys, I was missing a couple tar boards on the 69 bus I'm restoring and have been exploring other ideas. I was thinking about using an aluminum honeycomb material that's used under stone countertops, but I wound up using some leftover wedi board from a shower enclosure tile project.
This material is lightweight, foam core with a fiberglass coating. It's easy to cut and shape with a jig saw or drywall saw, but not very bendable for models with curved tar boards. Perfect for a bus though, it should function to deaden sound and insulate from heat. It appears to be fire resistant as well.
I think it's a fairly clean look, whadya think?

nice product and a game changer in the tile business.
i'm not sure the foam is dense enough to effect sound.
and there's not usually much heat in the top side if the seals are in place
I do agree it really spiffs up the place. so I'd probably use it too if I had some extra laying around..
you can possibly bond some tar or rubber based deadening to it to help with sound deadening. though adding much weight to it will require better fasteners to hold it up. _________________
