I'm not that well versed in Things, and was skeptical at first, but the more I watched this the more it looks like it's the real deal and maybe the first Thing ever imported to the US? Regardless, it's a nice one!

It appears to be a 1970 (first model year) in very good condition. It also appears to be a civilian model, which would be uncommon, but not unheard of. I'll definitely be referencing the video for details of my own restoration. Sadly, my 1970 civilian is not in anywhere as nice of condition.
I don't know if I believe that it is the first one imported to the US. There would need to be documentation to back up that claim. That said, I would go along with it being one of the earliest model year ones in the US. _________________ "I like how everyone likes talking about Zeke's Thing yet he's the only one that's ever seen it." - Katie

That 35 minute video could have been trimmed down to about 5. Definitely a cool car, but it's strange to listen to them babble on with guesses and questions disguised as facts. Very satisfying to watch the decades of dirt and crud come off though.
Hopefully that Thing actually gets back on the road eventually. |
