New seal, original tin, but in a few spots it will not seal
Any tricks to make it stay? I’ve worked with it for hours now, can get it in place but in no time it pops back like in the pictures. _________________ Wayne

Aftermarket rubber that been folded for a long time will not hold it's shape. _________________ Glenn

Or pulled too tight, if you stretch it as you pull it in it sometimes does that. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Lower the engine, remove the stock seal, raise engine and use a late bus seal.

Easy to install, seals much better IMO.

Stuff a length of fuel hose up under the seal. It will spread the seal open and push the lip out so it will hook under the tin lip. Taking the rear tin off makes it easier. I may have used some upholstery glue to hold it in there. Worked for me when mine had that same gap.

I agree, some of the aftermarket seals don't have quite the same dimensions or fit of originals.
It's already been mentioned the seal might have been pulled too tight when installed. If you can sort of bunch it or squish it, it gives more "length" to the "J" part that hooks under the tin. _________________ When I set my timing, why do I flush, then take a pee? |

I might try this. I'm also trying to warm it up some to see if it will "relax" a little. _________________ Wayne
