Just listed my Karmann Ghia for sale. Immediately started getting texts from a Michigan phone number. Said he was in Texas. I said call me and talk to me. He sent me a picture of a Texas drivers license of a older white man. Looked him up , and he had an extensive criminal record. Guy finally called me,and he had a heavy Indian accent. The accent and poor English said SCAM. BEWARE.

Yes, the text scammers are crazy now, all over the internet.

We detected some unusual activity on your Wells Fargo Credit Card ending in 4217. Action required: Please review recent card activity

Please review these transactions and respond as soon as possible. If we don't hear back from you, future transactions may be declined.

At first I thought this was a scam, even with that E-mail address so I didn't click. I had stopped using this credit card about 3 months ago, but I went to Wells Fargo online and didn't see any charges on it. But I also got a similar notice on my TracFone. So I responded and stated I hadn't made the charge or ever heard of Mango, and closed out that card.

Yesterday I got a scam E-mail about "winning Costco cooking equipment". I'm with yahoo E-mail, and the spam filter works reasonably well.

Lately I have been getting a bunch of scam emails about having an outstanding bill for Pike Pass which is for toll road fees. These scams are for $3 - $7. Who the hell is gonna waste their time scamming somebody out of $4.37

Typically those toll charge scams ask for a credit card for payment. Once they have that info, they max it out with charges. The small change "bill" they originally proffer is a way to mislead people into thinking it's no big deal.

Here's a scam call number I got hit twice Friday 3/28/2025.
855-428-3169 is a scam number.
Below is an automated message example,
You. Hello, this is customer Support calling for Arthur Mercur in regards to your Frontier Airlines World Mastercard account. If this is Arthur Mercure, press one now. If not, press two. This is Customer support calling in regards to your Frontier Airline s World Mastercard account. If this is Arthur Mercur, press one now. If not, press two. Please have them call us back at 855-428-3169. Again, our number is 855-428-3169. Goodbye.

DO NOT ANSWER ANY CALLS FROM THE ABOVE NUMBER, the scammer can back charge you just by answering the call.

If want to get some fun scam texts just post up a wanted ad. It won’t take long. Someone here is trolling the want ads and offering up a just too good of a deal to not be BS. I ask for pics and it’s obviously a ripped pic from the gallery here. Tell them it’s the wrong part and they just find another pic to send you. Didn’t know I could put up phone numbers to alert others but they’re just google numbers anyway.

I love to mess with all scammers. You just have to watch what you say. I deal with them all day long in one of my jobs. I tell them to send me all the money to my paypal account.

I'm getting texts saying I'm late on tolls for roads in Arizona and North Dakota. As far as I know neither have any toll roads!

The Toll scam texts I have been getting have country code +63 starting the senders number which is the Phillipines, time to click the report/delete button.

I think clicking the report and delete function is like the elevator door close button, it’s only there so you fell like you’re doing something I do it and keep getting the same texts anyway.

For a while I was getting 2 or 3 texts a week offering me a job. Seems that one has run it's course. Back to the old standbys of "There has been a suspicious charge on your credit card..." and "Your social security number has been cancelled."

You schould all consider yourself lucky. In Poland I am receiving four, five ot these scam texts/calls per week. More than 100 numbers are blocked in my cell. Nobody can put those under control. And when you post something for sale, within minutes there are "notices" of item being sold, you just need to pay few bucks for insurance

Some guys in my old office talked a scammer into giving them a call back number a couple of years ago. I think he gave them his cell. They named him "Big Dick Johnson" and started calling him regularly. He had a heavy Indian accent. He started begging them to stop calling him because he was going to get into trouble at his call center. It was darn funny.
