I bought this seat with some other VW stuff. The guy told me it was for a Porsche, I guessing because of the HULS seat recliner?

I am a VW guy so I have zero Porsche knowledge. Any help identifying it would be great including years it fits etc.

That is definitely a recliner built under license from Reutter (Recaro/Porsche), and possibly even made by Reutter. It is not a Porsche seat though.

So it could be for another sports car from the period. A number of sports cars in the 1950s and 1960s used this design and had either Reutter supply them with ratcheting recliners or built them or had them built under license. Jaguar XK140, Maserati Sebring, and many others used this design. I have not seen this one before.

.

That is a Mercedes seat, driver side - mid to late 1950's, not model specific.

Thanks RUNKLE. Here's a link showing the diagram for the seat.

and the reference to either Keiper (#56 and 58 ) or Reutter (#71 and 73) reclining mechanisms.
