Is there a way to tell which is the left v right rear bumper bracket?

I've always had an issue refitting the body-to-splashpan fixings on my rear bumper (Oct 56 single cab).

The leading edge on the left is 10mm from the body, while on the right it's 15mm.

I can fit the right side easily. The left took me about an hour this time.

The bumper is bolted up tight to the mounting bracket, but on the left side, the bracket is visible, while on the right it's not. I'm wondering if someone swapped them (I have old images showing it sat without bumpers for a while). Or maybe there are two left or two right brackets.

I'm wondering if that could cause the bumper to twist, pulling one side in tighter to the body, causing my issue?

Pics...

Left hand bracket (bracket visible where it oversails the valance panel)...

Right hand bracket (completely hidden within the bumper)...

I have the correct thick square washers holding the bumper to the brackets, and there is no gap.

The 1956 parts manual shows a left and right specific bumper bracket.

Yeah, I'm trying to find out if there's a way of telling which is which in case they're transposed or I've got two of the same.

Can't see a part number stamped on them.

When bolted onto the frame the LEFT bracket will angle to the left, the RIGHT will angle to the right following the curve of the bumper.
