|
|
997 EVC, 86K on the clock.
Before -
On starting - all trouble lights on dash display. Once started, all lights go out, the two tone alarm continues to whine. Pumped brakes multiple times, thinking it might be related - no change. Suddenly stopped.
Now-
On starting - all trouble lights on dash display. Once started, all lights go out, the two tone alarm does not whine. Pumped brakes several times, no alarm.
Once warm, the piezo alarm sounds full time
Brake fluid level - good
Pwr steering fluid - good
Have checked all doors switches - good
Parking brake, off and light goes out.
I am assuming a brake wear or problem with the brake wear wiring is not the issue.
I want to sell, but need to sort out the source of the alarm activation.
Any help greatly appreciated. TIA. |

Does this alarm sound from the location of the relays behind the driver's side knee bar?
My 97 EVC had a "door ajar" alarm that was built into a relay - it was meant to alert you to the door being open while keys were in the ignition, but any fault in the door close plunger, like dirty contacts (which might also keep your dome light on) would make the alarm sound. I removed the relay. _________________ -2003 EV MV Wk - Forest - 51k

Thanls for the quick reply!
I've cleaned the door contacts and with the EVC parked and running, I get no alarm, I believe this rules out the door alarm.
Again, thank you for the fast answer!
