For a '72 Super (1302) Wolfsburg production, after removing the padded dash, which years' dash knobs will work? Is this only an electrical issue? I know they must be shorter. I replaced the black plastic steering wheel with the '62-'63 ivory/chrome steering wheel, so I want to replace all the black dash knobs. Will the ivory knobs for '55-'66 fit? And air vents (mine unusable) -- none on offer indicate if they're for padded or metal dash. All the same? All advice appreciated!

I believe what you need for the defrost vents are available at Heritage VW in the U.K..

I used Type 3 knobs (shorter) for the fresh air controls, headlight switch, and wipers when I took off the dash pad of my 70 sedan. I also modified the glove box door and made a new ashtray front to better fit the dash opening. I also sourced a dash handle from a 1200a/Sparkafer from England and a 58 right side grill (no gas gauge, with a trim strip that fits better than a late model).

Thanks, Danpa, for all the info. I'll check into Heritage and some other European sources as I'm in Greece. That's a nice looking dash you have there!
