Rainy here in NC so I was going to get my turn signal switch handled. Found this lovely melted all the way back to the ignition switch. Parts on order. Just wow. Lucky there wasn't a fire.

I replaced a headlight some time ago on my '67 and unknowingly pinched the hot wire so it was grounded to the body. The first time I turned on the headlights the cabin was instantly filled with smoke. The insulation on the whole length of that long wire from the switch was fried. What a panic, I thought I was on fire, didn't know where it was coming from. Yanked the positive lead off the battery, got my heart under control and discovered the cause. Yikes!

Lucky that was the only damage.
I had an old Toyota that did something similar but melted all the wire in the main loom together. Was a mess to fix.
