Hello all!
I am fed up trying to get my 1962 pan VW Buggy set up with the shortened cables for the ebrake factory location. Question: Have any of you added the new type electric parking brake, like the Wilwood to your buggy?
thanks,
Rick |

If all you want is a parking brake, you could add the old school manual push button style, but you still won't have an emergency brake either way. |

Maybe your only problem is quality made cables....
These people can make anything you need in way of cables.... All they need to know in the length and type if ends on cables...
Sorry but their new website is not up yet, but call....

The electric brake will be cut into the rear hydraulic line a d add the wiring. No mods to your rear brakes at all.
Line lock for the rear wheels! _________________

I cut a 1/4" ball valve into the rear brake line on my sand rail. Step on the brake hard and turn the valve and it holds the car on a hill while I open a gate. It's no something though that I can trust for long term parking as it does bleed down over time.
If you live on a slope and go with any kind of valve in the brake line, I suggest carrying a couple of rocks to put under the tires for a backup. That's the beauty of a cable operated parking brake. Nothing to bleed off.
I might also add that in some jurisdictions the parking brake needs to be a separate system from the hydraulics in order to be street legal. _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |
