I have an 89 Vanagon that's starting to get some squeaky brakes. Can anyone help me ID the front discs? I'm not sure if these are stock, or if their some sort of big brake kit as the PO installed them.
It's hard to read but the part # on the rotor is "22s 615 301 vw" _________________ 1989 Westfalia - 2.5L Subie

Part numbers that start with 22S are South African VW parts.
My guess is you have a South African "big brake kit".
The major Vanagon vendors used to sell them.

Thanks Mark.
Any idea of these are compatible with any other disc brakes? I think the rotor likely needs replaced as well, and my google searches are coming up a little short on replacement parts. _________________ 1989 Westfalia - 2.5L Subie

New rotors are available. There are no direct crossovers to other vehicles that I've ever found.
Here is the link to the new rotors - https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.com/catalog/en_global/part/22S615301 _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

For the cost of those new rotors, you might want to consider updating to a kit that is sourced locally. _________________ '89 Westy - EJ25/22 Frank 4.44 5mt

That's what I'm starting to think as well. It looks like it might be hard to find parts for what I've got, and it would be nicer to have something that I can get pads and such at a FLAPS _________________ 1989 Westfalia - 2.5L Subie

If you take off your rotor, measure the front hub diameter, you will then have an idea of what rotors will fit without having to modify or buying new hubs. you might be able to get by with just getting rotors, pads and calipers. I assume you have 15" or larger wheels? _________________ '89 Westy - EJ25/22 Frank 4.44 5mt

You can still get pads pretty cheap online.
Buy 2 sets and carry the spare set, small enough.
