Hoping someone can help me out here, I am working on a customers 76 Beetle Conv. Just finished installing the top and working on interior at the moment.

We have 77 style seats in the car with removable headrest.. however both the 74-76 horsehair and the 77-79 foam/horsehair isn't quite correct for our seats. Leading me to believe we have some odd ball 76 frame with out the built in headrest.

does any one have bare frame photos of 74-76 frames an/or 77-79 frames?

Im thinking the mid year 76 left us with some intresting parts and have a solution in mind, Im just looking for some more information before I start cutting apart new covers to fit.

Thanks!
Dave

Do you mean the backrest and seat bottom? Or the part the mounts on the floor pan?

The backrest, i believe 76 had a spring pack and I think 77 had flatter ladder springs or “flex o later” springs

Here a photo of 77-79 Backrest. My 76 sedan seat backrest has springs.

exactly how I thought they were, thank you! the 76 does indeed have springs... I guess we have some mid year seat frames going on here as we've got springs and removable headrest.
