Hello everyone need some advice, recently I’ve noticed that if I accelerate aggressively and change up a gear I get a puff of blue smoke. If I drive gently no smoke.
This is the only time I see it while driving.
Is this a concern should I just watch and see if it gets worse .
Doesn’t appear to be using any additional oil?
I have read about engine oil additives that supposedly reduce it or stop it by regenerating the seals.
The engine still has plenty of power and effortlessly will cruiser at 60-70 mph with no smoke.
Would appreciate everyone’s thoughts.
Regards
Peter

I would say if it's just a small puff of smoke and it's not smoking at other times then just something to keep an eye on.

I guess it must be the increased vacuum when rpms drop which is showing up a small amount of wear somewhere and causing oil to get into the combustion chamber.

What oil are you running? Sometimes a thicker oil might help stop it getting past a slightly worn piston ring or valve seal. I run 20w-50 in mine, but I still get occasional puffs of smoke on start up, but it isn't getting any worse so I'm not worrying about it. As you say, you could try and additive also.

Cheers

ACVW's dont use valve seals, so worn valve guides and or rings.

Guys worry about clearance instead think of the opposite you want the suspension to drop that tire in the hole and keep you going. A spider for example they keep their body low but their legs can reach pretty far so they don't (bottom out)

A little top end lubrication is a good thing.

Typically a little smoke at aggressive gear change is valve guides. However, don't worry too much about it. just keep an eye on the oil level, but don't get too paranoid about it.
