Almost witnessed a tragedy this week on the road.
Who decided it would be a good idea to allow golf carts to be used on city streets?
Modern cars are basically rolling crumple zones, and these cart people place their children in the rear of these carts with zero crash protection on surface streets with rarely observed speed limits.
Can people be that naive thinking that these are a safe means of transportation? |

2024: golf cart fatalities in the US are about 600. While exact data for 2024 is still being collected, this figure represents the estimated number of fatalities based on historical trends. Additionally, there are around 15,000 golf cart-related injuries annually _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. They are ok in retirement communities and semi closed off neighborhoods. That’s it! _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

We live is a beach community and street legal golf carts are becoming quite the thing.
They look like fun.
However I just think what would happen in a collision with kids sitting in one. No protection. In my mind I see pointless deaths. _________________ Larry in OB

We have a few in my neighborhood and my a-hole neighbor used to call the police constantly and show them their door bell cam footage. I don’t mind anything that pisses my neighbor off. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

l saw a child fall off the back of one in san diego, luckily no one was following the golf cart.
l'm sure the parent / pilot made sure anyone sat on the back was wearing a seat belt, perhaps the child was being smart, and had unclipped the seat belt. _________________ markswagen {mobile mechanic} san diego area all early VW's cared for.

Yesterday I saw a kid run into the side of a SUV on an electric motorcycle in a shopping center parking lot. Of course he took off so it was a hit and run.
I don't see how a responsible adult can give a 15 year old a 100lb motorcycle that does 30+ mph and allow them to ride it like a bicycle with his friends in suburban Long Island. It's not like there are any open space around here. _________________ Glenn

I feel the same way about Kei trucks. What piles of shit they are. I own one and several golf carts to get around the property and no way would I want to be on the road with either one.
I'd rather be thrown off a motorcycle than cut out of a Kei truck. _________________

We're having an issue with mini bikes around here. Full on Briggs and Stratton dirt devils sharing a four lane public road. And of course in Delaware, you don't need to wear a helmet so I'm hoping that natural selection weeds a few f them out _________________ John

Electric bicycles piss me off. Full grown men riding them as if they are above the law-----going thru controlled intersections at speed like STOP signs don't exist.
(come to think of it, traditional pedal bike riders often do the same thing here)
and cops ignore them. |

l live on an 4 way intersection, even the cops run it.
less than a 1/4 of the traffic stops, way less.
l hate electric vehicles, l don't care how many wheels they have.

Cops aren’t doing anything about electric scooter/bikes. But, I think regulations will be implemented for them. At least 49cc mopeds have laws in most states. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far
