I came across a NOS Borg Warner short distributor cap for older aircooled VW's. Was BW an OEM supplier of caps for VW in 67? It's brown in color, and I vaguely recall reading somewhere that brown was the original color of the caps in 67. If a brown BW was correct for 67, I might buy it for originality.
Google thinks that BW was an OEM supplier, but I'm not sure google knows what it's talking about sometimes. What say you? I appreciate your input. _________________ Parts needed:
Front & rear NOS or used OEM door panels for a '67 in the original Gazelle color (dark tan/light brown).
Also looking for used white headliner pieces, both perforated and non-perforated. |

Most likely a Bosch or Bremi that was repackaged.

Look inside the box at the cap. You might find a Bosch one.
I have Bosch ones inside a VW box made in Germany. If you want original look for a Bosch with the Z lettering. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]
Classic Brands. Classic Quality.
Not all parts are made the same. NOS OE/OEM parts made mainly in West Germany, Early Germany, and Early Brazil are where VW produced the best quality parts and best fitting products.

They were not an original factory supplier unless as above they are repackaged Bosch. I have had several BW boxed brown caps that are for the Garbe Lahmeyer distributors. They only fit the very earliest 383 and other Bosch distributors. In addition, BW made their own vehicles in Europe like the Isabella Combi and others and many of the distributor parts are interchangeable.
The z lettering refers to the early caps part number.
Brown was the Color Bosch used until mid 1971. _________________ Roads Scholar
