Hello everyone Laughing

My 74 Super beetle came with factory/dealer installed DPD Aircon, of course im restoring some things and this doesn't work.

However just doing general things to the engine before dropping it, this bracket the compressor sits on is a pain! and i can not for the life of me figure out how it actually mounts in, the space you have to get to the mounting bolts are very very very slim.

I was wondering if any of you wizards on here had some more knowledge on this topic.

Thannks!

Here’s a copy of an install Manual:

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/vw_a_c_install/VW%20AC%20Beetle%20Custom%201972.php

The brackets mount to the #3 & #4 exhaust studs, and the engine case bolt behind the distributor. I have the same DPD system on my car, fully restored and functional.

Believe me, that compressor makes working on ANYTHING in the engine bay a complete pain in the butt.

Where are you located? I'm in the Memphis area, and could help if you're nearby.

That's how the lower bracket attaches. There may also be a bracket/bar on the left side of the compressor.

I used that system with my 1835cc DP engine with single Weber 40DCNF on its special intake manifold. I "invented" what's now called "Weber windows" back about mid-1970s because changing #3 and #4 spark plugs was so tough, and back then with leaded gasoline the plugs needed changing every 6000 miles.
