I have a 72 baja bug, 1600dp, I just swapped an empi HPMX 44 on it and now the passenger bank is getting super hot. Within 30 seconds of it running it is much hotter than the drivers side bank. Even the intake manifold on that side is very hot. Anyone have any ideas on where to start?

I'd investigate the most recent changes first if it didn't do it before the change. New carb? Second hand?

Its a used carb and intake. It looks in get shape, very clean. The squirters both work good. I checked the primary jets and they are both 130 and no obstructions. I doubt it is an airflow issue as it would take longer than 30 seconds of running in the driveway before one side got crazy hot over the other. Maybe one side is running crazy lean?

Most likely a lean condition on that side. Double check all the connections on that side, and check the boot for any pin holes or tares.
