I have my repaired transmission and my engine installed.
Now I am attempting to adjust my valves. I did #1 and tried to rotate the crank pulley to do the next one. I could only rotate the pulley 170 degrees. Then, there was a very firm stop.
Any ideas why this might be happening?
I confirmed the transmission is in neutral. |

what work did you do on the engine? _________________ "Most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it." - George Carlin |

Are you sure the transaxle is in neutral?
Try rotating it counter-clockwise and see if it stops at the same spot. _________________ Glenn

I assume you used new transaxle mounts.
The 2 lower mounts near the framehorns could have been made with the studs that go inside the bellhousing area too long or if you use a nut that is too tall-either can catch the flywheel teeth and stop the engine rotation.
If you have a new transaxle it could be the flywheel interfering with part of the inside of the bellhousing.
To check either back the crank off to where it still moves then loosen the 4 engine to transaxle mounting nuts and pull the engine rearward a bit. Now try to move the crank-if it moves then there is interference somewhere. |
