Hi, so I have had this bus for almost 10 years and done a lot of chassie and motor repairs, and now when its time to start working on interior and body I realized there are buses out there that are so called "Deluxe buses", I have never heard of that before. And when looking at my bus I can se some of these details on it. So, how do I know if it's a Deluxe edition? And also, according to my M-plate, is there anything else interesting worth mentioning?
I have chrome around front doors, indicator lights and tail lights. I have door cards that according some site i read matches deluxe interior. I also have reverse lights. But a lot of things are missing that indicates that it would be a deluxe version, maybe it's just a regular bus with a few replaces parts? The door cards seems to be original. Maybe I'm just confused, since I never head of it before and I'm in kind of panic now as I were about to completely redo the interior in my own style and now I'm not sure that I should. I tried searchng but I think the current information is incomplete or I'm just bad at searching...
Thank you.

Hello,
keep in mind with model code 2210 (bottom row) it is still a Microbus -
not a naked Kombi bus 23xx (used also as base for campers as Westfalias).
But it is no 24xx Microbus L = deluxe (in 1974-79 listed as 22xx as mine Bus L 2217).
For the deluxe version "VW-Clipper L" also the vent wing windows missing in the front doors.
Also I see no chrome around the rear windows and no holes for the chrom trim below the windows...

What is that funky bracket on the ignition switch?

looks like a pre-owner lost his key or the key broke off in the lock.
You can't change the lock easily unless you unlock it with a key first.
If he then changes the lock unprofessionally with brute force, he has to put a cover over it afterwards.
So it is not standard or aftermarket accessory or from VW.
Unless you always have a hammer dangling from your keychain and need to protect the steering column from it. _________________ Rolf-Stephan Badura

Thank you, just what I needed, now I know and I don't have to worry about that.
Do you know about the warm air ducts in the front door cards, most buses seems to not have these, do I have them because its a microbus and others models don't? Maybe they have been removed on others? I am planning to remove them as they are in the way for my new seats, and I will be making new cards anyway. |

Something like that, if I remove the bracket the lock falls out... That's one thing that has to be fixt in the near future. As it is now I can almost use my home keys to turn the ignition on, practical but now so burglar-proof |

It’s in the Dutch owners manual

If you understand by "buses" bay windows cars in general, you are wrong.
This was not VW language - a 7/8/9 seater Kombi was not a bus.
Naked Kombi (buses) didn't have it - as well as most camper vans or panel vans didn't have it.
Also the linked Dutch manual said this - only "Clipper" and "Clipper L" variants
(Clipper was a Pan Am brand and VW couldn't us it later for the Microbuses).
So it fit to your car and a real bus.
BTW: at my website are also some Swedish brochures:

Thanks for manuals and clarification. I knew what they were for but now how common they were. Buses, vans, kombis, for me who speaks Swedish all T2s are buses, except maybe the pick up version. Sorry for my messy posts, my bad
But are you saying my T2 is a Clipper? And what does that mean? |
