so I am going to caulk the seam between the front quarter panel and the upper body, it definetely needs it there. However, I am wondering if I should also caulk along the raingutter where it meets the roof, there are small hairline cracks there, should I caulk it, or will the paint fill it in enough?

I have successfully used 3M "fast and firm" sealant in all those areas. Makes for a nice smooth line/transition if your careful and you do it right. It's not easy to work with unless you have caulked a lot of bathrooms and trim when painting houses etc. Experience to get it smooth the FIRST time is imperative. Second attempt are sketchy at best due to how fast it tacks up.

Be sure to let it cure for ( IMHO and experience) 24-48 hours depending on your ambient temps before priming over.

Reviving this thread because I'm curious if seam sealer is required in this area for longevity purposes.

My '71 Ghia body was stripped to metal and I used my spot sandblaster and small wire wheel to completely remove old paint out of the drip rails. I then etched it all with Ospho. Body was epoxy sealed and I even flowed some Eastwood Internal Frame Coating down the channel to further make sure the seam in side the drip rail was coated over. The seam is sealed over with the coatings, and when I do my color I plain to use an airbrush to get into the drip rail

In my case, would it be beneficial to add a thin coat of seam sealer over top my epoxy inside the drip rails like @keifernet stated for insurance?
