Has anyone used these on their aluminum tanks?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235835622819?_skw=stant+c...R6jnlZr2ZQ

I saw one on a dirt bike and I thought, 1. I want that for my dirt bike and 2. I want that for my van.

Just looked at the link, as I was wondering what it might be.

First, no, I don't

Next, I thought, Hmm, when would that help me? Like just before I touched my pressure tank, and if it said it was hot, maybe I'd not put my hand on it? I guess so.

Next, I thought, Hmm, I wonder what kind of failure mode this would add, if it were to break.

That's about when I came to the conclusion that I now don't want one of these.

Just my perception, but just how I went through it in my head.

you lose the Lev-R-Lock feature of the Stant cap. this is a good safety feature to prevent scalded hands but also makes a great way to burp air out of the pressure tank and not make a mess because any liquid that travels over goes into the overflow tank.

that gauge cap is coming from China, tariff beware, and has the usual Chinese quality control. Stant makes 85% of their caps in Indiana and the balance in the Czech Republic.

Hate to break it to you, but Stant was bought out in February 2020. All of their caps are now MotoRad and the American plant was shut down. There are still NOS American-made Stant caps out there, but your new purchases will be from China.

As for the temperature gauge cap, not something I see as useful as the dash gauge is good enough for me (and feeling a hot engine means there'll be hot coolant).

It gets worse:

MotoRad (trade name of American company Fishman Thermo Technologies) was bought in November 2023 by Fortissimo Investment Funds (headquartered in Israel) and Coller Capital (headquartered in the UK). Evil or Very Mad

Well, as another thought, MotorRad at one time was making good thermostats for the Old Land Rover V-8/GM V-8, that were def. better than the Stock ones Land Rover was selling us and the Public.
Maybe somewhere in their company production they'll keep some good parts alive....... Pray Pray Pray

I kinda think the temp gauge built into the rad cap could be an easy, handy and temporary thingy to get a baseline reading,, along with adding some all important cool bling to the engine compartment..
I've thought for some time that using a rad cap with a zinc anode, would be a worthwhile addition;

https://www.amazon.com/RAParts-Z17700-Radiator-Cap...amp;sr=8-3

And maybe one or 2 of these pencil anodes?

https://www.amazon.com/Flex-lite-32060-Anode-Drain...amp;sr=8-5

Purty sure the use of those 2 items would settle the debate of electrolysis when using the SS coolant transfer pipes?
